10/04/24 ALDS predictions: Tigers at Guardians. Chris McCosky, Tony Paul, John Niyo and Bob Wojnowski of The Detroit News predict the outcome of the best-of-five American League Division Series between the Detroit Tigers and Cleveland Guardians. ? Chris McCosky: AJ Hinch has played three-dimensional chess all season long and he's had good success showing the big guns in the Guardians' lineup — Jose Ramirez and Josh Naylor — three or more different looks in the course of a game.

9/29/24 Cleveland Guardians MVP Candidate in Extremely Rare History as Regular Season Ends. The Cleveland Guardians lost to the Houston Astros 4-3 on Saturday night in Cleveland. With the loss, the Guardians are now 92-69 on the season. They have won the American League Central but still would like to win on Sunday in the regular season finale to get some momentum for the playoffs. The Astros have won the American League West and are locked into the No. 3 seed in the American League playoffs. They will take on either the Kansas City Royals or Detroit Tigers in the wild card round of the playoffs, set to begin next week. Guardians star Jose Ramirez went 2-for-3 with a double and a home run in the loss. He had all three RBI. Both the double and the home run were his 39th of the season.

9/28/24 Guardians Superstar Joins Elite List With Historic Home Run. Jose Ramirez is chasing history as the regular season comes to a close. The Cleveland Guardians superstar is trying to become just the seventh player in MLB history to record a 40/40 season (40 stolen bases and 40 home runs). This was Ramirez's 39th homer of the season, and while he's still short of the 40/40 club, he still joined an elite list of players with this hit. Ramirez is now just the third player in MLB history who has 38+ home runs, 38+ doubles, and 40+ stolen bases in a single season.

9/27/24 Cleveland Guardians' Star Making Interesting Case for AL Rookie of the Year. The 2024 MLB season is coming to a close, and the Cleveland Guardians will be heading to the playoffs. As great as Jose Ramirez has been, he doesn't have much of a chance of winning AL MVP thanks to Aaron Judge's dominance, and the Guardians' only Cy Young candidate is closer Emmanuel Clase, who probably doesn't have a realistic shot of taking home the honor. ESPN's Buster Olney mentioned that Smith has a case, but how much of one does he actually have?

9/26/24 Analyst Reveals Bold Claim On Cleveland Guardians' Jose Ramirez. Cleveland Guardians third baseman Jose Ramirez is one of the most underappreciated stars in baseball. Heck, even those in Cleveland may not give him the respect he deserves. Take Tom Withers of The Associated Press, for example. Following Ramirez's terrific effort in which he went 3-for-4 with a three-run homer in the Guardians' win over the Cincinnati Reds on Wednesday, Withers took to social media to finally give Ramirez his flowers.

9/22/24 3 Unsung Heroes For Cleveland Guardians. The Cleveland Guardians are AL Central division champions, and while names like Jose Ramirez, Tanner Bibee and Emmanuel Clase will garner most of the recognition, the Guardians couldn't have done it without significant contributions up and down the roster. Here are three unsung heroes for the Guardians in 2024. No one knew what to expect from Matthew Boyd when Cleveland signed him in late June.

9/21/24 Jose Ramirez expresses 40/40 desire as season winds down. The Cleveland Guardians have been one of baseball's best teams this season. The Guardians clinched a playoff berth with a 3-2 win over the Minnesota Twins in extra innings Thursday. The victory ensures that Cleveland will return to the postseason, bouncing back from a disappointing campaign in 2023. Despite boasting the fourth best record in MLB entering play on Saturday, the Guardians have flown under the radar this year – as has All-Star third baseman Jose Ramirez.

9/20/24 Guardians Superstar Shines In Win Over Cardinals. The Cleveland Guardians clinched a spot in the postseason on Thursday afternoon and hopped on a plane headed for St. Louis shortly after. Guardians superstar Jose Ramirez had no intention of taking a day off and was right back in the lineup against the Cardinals on Friday night. Not only did he play, but Ramirez played a critical role in the Guardians' victory. Cleveland's third baseman went 3-for-4 with two RBI, including a moon shot home run over the right field fence.

9/14/24 How about an MVP dream with a Cleveland theme? The week in baseball. Former Cleveland teammates Jose Ramirez (left) and Francisco Lindor are in the running for the MVP award in their respective leagues. John Kuntz, cleveland.com By Paul Hoynes, cleveland.com CLEVELAND, Ohio -- It almost certainly won't happen because of a couple of big reasons named Aaron Judge and Shohei Ohtani, but what if it did? What if Jose Ramirez finds his power stroke in the last two weeks of the season and becomes the first Cleveland player to go 40-40? He's already topped 100 runs and 100 RBI. 9/10/24 Travis Bazzana Reflects On Meeting Longtime Guardians Superstar. The current face of the Cleveland Guardians franchise is Jose Ramirez, who has played with the organization for over a decade. When that time does come, the Guardians already have the player they hope to follow in Ramirez's footsteps as the face of their franchise. Justin Lada Of Locked On Guardians got the chance to interview Bazzana, and one of the questions he asked the minor leaguer was what it was like to meet Ramirez at the end of July. Bazzana couldn't help but smile when describing what it was like to meet J-Ram in person.

9/06/24 Guardians' Jose Ramirez Sets New Career-High In This Hustle Stat. Jose Ramirez has been one of baseball's best players for the last decade. Part of that chaos includes Ramirez's incredible skill of stealing bases. Ramirez singled during his first at-bat against Los Angeles on Friday night, and a few pitches later, he broke for second base and recorded another stolen bag. This steal was Ramirez's 35th stolen base of the season, a new career high.

8/24/24 Jose Ramirez becomes first Cleveland hitter with multiple 30 homer, 30 steal seasons. Jose Ramirez recorded his 30th steal on Sunday and wrote himself into Cleveland baseball's record books along the way.

8/22/24 Jose Ramirez Becomes First Player In Cleveland Guardians History To Accomplish This Feat. Jose Ramirez will one day have his number "11" retired by the Cleveland Guardians franchise. J-Ram reached another career milestone on Thursday against the New York Yankees. Ramirez walked in the top of the sixth inning, and stole second base a few pitches later. This officially gave the third baseman 30 steals and 30 home runs for the 2024 season.

8/21/24 Stephen Vogt Reacts To The Cleveland Guardians' Loss To The New York Yankees. New York evened up the series on Wednesday with a domianant win over Cleveland. The Guardians only had four plays with a ball that had an exit velcoity of over 100 mph. Jose Ramirez and Andres Gimenez has one and Jhonkensy Noel had two. The Guardians only finished with three hits off Yankees starter Nestor Cortes.

8/20/24 Cleveland Guardians Should Pursue This Outfielder In Free Agency. Yes, the Cleveland Guardians still have almost 40 more games to play this season. It's clear that this lineup still needs an everyday outfield power bat who can protect Jose Ramirez and Josh Naylor in the lineup. Time is running out for some of Celveland's current prospects and players, which may force the front office to look outside the organization with Cleveland's contention window opening. Anthony Santander is an upcoming free agent who would be a perfect fit for the Guardians, and Cleveland should seriously pursue him ahead of the 2025 season.

8/17/24 Cleveland Guardians Star Jose Ramirez Closing In On Massive History. Cleveland Guardians third baseman Jose Ramirez is enjoying an incredible season, and he is now closing in on yet another franchise milestone. Currently, Ramirez has 32 home runs and 27 stolen bases on the year. If he swipes three more bags (which seems all but inevitable), he will become the first player in Guardians history to put together two campaigns of 30 homers and 30 stolen bases (he previously did it in 2018). Joe Carter and Grady Sizemore each have one season with those totals (h/t Paul Hoynes of Cleveland.com).

8/07/24 Cleveland Guardians' Jose Ramirez Among The Last of a Dying Breed. Cleveland Guardians third baseman Jose Ramirez is one of the biggest stars in baseball, even if his name doesn't carry the cachet of an Aaron Judge or a Mike Trout. Through the first week of August, Ramirez is slashing .282/.334/.545 with 29 home runs and 94 RBI over 473 plate appearances. If not for Judge's thoroughly inhuman 2024 campaign, Ramirez would be right in the thick of the American League MVP race. There was a time when switch hitters were much more common in the major leagues, but now, Ramirez is among the last of a dying breed.

8/02/24 Cleveland Guardians' Jose Ramirez Achieves Yet Another Amazing Feat. Cleveland Guardians third baseman Jose Ramirez recently passed Albert Belle for second on the franchise's all-time home run list. Then, on Thursday night, he achieved another little personal feat: e homered for the third straight game for the first time since 2021. Ramirez smashed his 28th long ball of the season in the Guardians' 10-3 win over the Baltimore Orioles, giving him four dingers over the last four games (he left the yard twice against the Detroit Tigers this past Monday). “You've got to watch every single at-bat he's up there,” said Cleveland manager Stephen Vogt, via The Associated Press.
