Matt Andriese (P - MIA)
7/3/24 10:00 PM - Cincinnati Reds Savor The Rare Achievement Of Getting Aaron Judge On A Double Play. Starting with his first homer in his first at-bat against Matt Andriese, on Aug. 13, 2016, there are 220 pitchers so far to experience the frustration of becoming members of the “I gave up a home run to Aaron Judge” club. Conversely there are pitchers in another club, one that is more pleasing from the mound and it is “I got Aaron Judge to hit in a double play” club. In 921 regular-season games, Judge has hit into 92 double plays. Fernando Cruz became the latest, getting Judge to hit into a double play with two on in a one-run game in the seventh.

And in the Cubs' 5-3 loss to the Phillies on Wednesday, he logged his 10th quality start of the season. Imanaga held Philadelphia to three runs, all scored on a pair of homers. He recorded eight strikeouts. But after tying up the game in the seventh inning with back-to-back base hits from Michael Busch and Cody Bellinger , the Cubs let it slip in the eighth. Imanaga is the Cub making the most compelling case for an All-Star selection. MLB announced this year's All-Star starters on Wednesday, which were decided by two phases of fan voting. WASHINGTON — Mark Vientos was recalled to the Mets on May 15 and from his first game started contributing offensively to a team that was in need of such a boost. The early returns were positive, but could he maintain it? It's still too early to call the 24-year-old third baseman the real deal, but with each passing day Vientos is reinforcing the idea he belongs. “It seems like every time we win he contributes,” Francisco Lindor said Wednesday at Nationals Park. The winning has been plentiful lately, with the Mets in a stretch of 14 victories in 18 games as play began. On a broader scale the Mets had won 18 of 24, moved above .500 and were one game behind in the race for the NL's last wild card.

7/3/24 11:19 AM - MLB rumors: The Cubs overachiever who could be in demand at trade deadline. At 39-47, the Chicago Cubs find themselves 12 games back in the NL Central and  5.5 games back in the Wild Card race. With the MLB trade deadline rapidly approaching, the Cubs must consider operating as sellers. If they do, Cody Bellinger would undoubtedly be their best trade option made available. The Cubs acquired Miller in a trade from the Seattle Mariners in early May. It was a reunion of sorts, as Chicago was the team who originally drafted Miller back in 2016.
