7/03/24 We found shockingly cheap tickets to see the Mets at Citi Field. Vivid Seats is the New York Post's official ticketing partner. We may receive revenue from this partnership for sharing this content and/or when you make a purchase. Just when you think you have the New York Mets figured out, the team finds a way to surprise you. After a poor first two months, most fans wrote off the 2024 season and speculated new GM David Stearns would sell off star first baseman Pete Alonso at the trade deadline. Then, on June 12, rotund McDonalds character and Happy Meal regular Grimace threw out the first pitch at a game against the Miami Marlins. Improbably, Carlos Mendoza's ball club has gone 14-4 since that fateful toss from the fictional purple fella. To be fair, a lot

7/02/24 Mets' David Stearns gives 'certain' update on trade deadline plans. The New York Mets are surging, and that is altering their trade deadline plans. It is looking all the more likely that Pete Alonso will stay with the team as the franchise fights for a National League Wild Card spot. The team now seems to want to bolster their bullpen and attract solid pitchers at a reasonable price. “Certainly, this is an area of the team we're going to continue to monitor,” Mets baseball president David Stearns said, per the New York Post.

7/01/24 Insider Says Mets Unlikely to Trade Pair of Stars if in Wild Card Position. Despite the initial belief that the red-hot New York Mets could be both buyers and sellers at the trade deadline, this baseball insider says not so fast. According to SNY's Andy Martino, the idea that the Mets could deal first baseman Pete Alonso and/or righty starter Luis Severino while adding bullpen help "is almost impossible to imagine" if the team is in a Wild Card spot by the end of July. "If the team is sitting in a wild card spot, or is very close to one at the end of July, don't expect to see Severino or Alonso moved for prospects," Martino wrote.

6/30/24 MLB rumors: The scenario in which Mets keep Pete Alonso at trade deadline. The New York Mets are in the midst of an uneven season, and the team is facing some tough choices ahead of the MLB trade deadline. The Mets have looked to move infielder Pete Alonso, but that approach may be changing. New York will reportedly move Alonso if the team isn't within five games of the NL Wild Race in July, per USA Today. The Mets have won seven of their last 10 games, and are now .500 on the season heading into action on Sunday.

6/29/24 McNeil snaps home run drought, Mets move over .500 by beating Astros. Pete Alonso and Jeff McNeil homered in the sixth inning, powering the New York Mets to a 7-2 win over the Houston Astros and moving them over .500 for the first time since May 2. The Mets have gone 18-6 since May 30 — the day after players held a team meeting following a 10-3 loss to the Los Angeles Dodgers — to improve to 40-39. Alonso snapped a 2-2 tie with a one-out homer off Astros starter Ronel Blanco (8-3) — his first round-tripper since June 19 and only his third since June 5. McNeil capped the outburst by ending an even longer power drought with a 346-foot, three-run homer just beyond the right field fence. The second baseman was 12 for 83 (.145) since his previous homer on May 22.
