Cubs left-hander Shota Imanaga had one last chance to make his case for an All-Star selection in his rookie season. And in the Cubs' 5-3 loss to the Phillies on Wednesday, he logged his 10th quality start of the season. Imanaga held Philadelphia to three runs, all scored on a pair of homers. He recorded eight strikeouts. But after tying up the game in the seventh inning with back-to-back base hits from Michael Busch and Cody Bellinger , the Cubs let it slip in the eighth. One of the good stories of the 2024 Major League Baseball season is the emergence of Chicago Cubs left-handed starter, Shota Imanaga. Imanaga, 30, pitched parts of eight seasons in Japan prior to signing an international free agent contract with the Cubs this offseason. The Cubs also paid close to $10 million in a posting fee to Yokohama to be able to negotiate with Imanaga.
