4/05/23 How the Red Sox replaced their laundry cart celebration with inspiration from 'Macho Man' Masataka Yoshida. With laundry cart czar Kevin Plawecki no longer with the team, the Red Sox have officially retired the popular home run celebration they used for parts of the last three seasons. In its place, the club has turned to a new routine — one that honors new outfielder Masataka Yoshida. After Yoshida, Rafael Devers and Triston Casas homered in the first inning Monday night against the Pirates, they were each seen lifting inflatable dumbbells while strolling through the dugout.

4/01/23 MLB Rumors: Ex-Red Sox Signs Minor League Deal With NL East Club. Sign In It looks like another former Red Sox player will be joining the Nationals for the 2023 Major League Baseball season. Washington signed veteran catcher Kevin Plawecki to a minor league deal Saturday, according to the Washington Post's Andrew Golden. The Nats also selected Thaddeus Ward from Boston in the Rule 5 draft this past offseason. This would be the 32-year-old's fifth team in his eighth-year in the majors. Plawecki was on the Pittsburgh Pirates' spring training roster but did not make the final cut for the 40-man roster. Jesse Dougherty of the Washington Post made a case in January for the Nationals to acquire a veteran catcher, even naming Plawecki, to help the development of starting

3/23/23 MLB Rumors: Ex-Red Sox Catcher Doesn't Make Pirates Roster. Former Boston Red Sox catcher Kevin Plawecki was signed to a minor league contract back in February, however, the 32-year-old is back on the market over a month later. Plawecki, who spent three seasons with the Red Sox, was signed by the Pittsburgh Pirates with a reported chance to earn $1.5 million if successful in earning a big league roster spot. The move becomes a likely indicator that Plawecki exercises his opt-out option, which he has until Sunday to officially do, and would make him an available roster addition for any team before Opening Day. During spring training, reporters such as Biertempfel noticed Plawecki's locker was empty before confirming the news.

2/12/23 Ex Red Sox catcher, team DJ signs minor league deal with Pirates. A popular former Red Sox catcher has found a new team. Veteran backstop Kevin Plawecki has agreed to a minor league contract with the Pirates, according to a team announcement. Plawecki will likely compete for the backup job in Pittsburgh, where the Bucs have only two catchers on their 40-man roster (veteran Austin Hedges and prospect Endy Rodriguez). Plawecki, who turns 32 in two weeks, spent three seasons with the Red Sox before being surprisingly designated for assignment and released in a September move that was not well-received in Boston's clubhouse.

11/07/22 2022 in review: Kevin Plawecki. With the 2022 regular season almost over, it is that time for us to go back and take a look at the players who appeared for the Texas Rangers this season. Today, we look at catcher Kevin Plawecki. This was one of the weird footnotes to the Rangers’ 2022 season.

9/22/22 Rangers sign Plawecki, put Solak on i.l.. The Texas Rangers signed catcher Kevin Plawecki to a minor league deal, the team announced yesterday. To make room for Plawecki on the active and 40 man roster, the Rangers placed Nick Solak on the 60 day injured list with a right foot fracture. I’m honestly baffled by this whole Plawecki thing.

9/21/22 Alex Cora defends Red Sox' decision to DFA Kevin Plawecki. The decision to designate Kevin Plawecki for assignment was not met well by some within the Red Sox clubhouse, but Alex Cora has a fairly straightforward take on it. It was a baseball decision. Plawecki struggled mightily at the dish this season, and with Reese McGuire and Connor Wong looking more like the team’s future behind the plate, Plawecki was cut loose.

9/20/22 How Kevin Plawecki To Rangers Could Cost Red Sox Marquee Free Agent. Could the Boston Red Sox's release of Kevin Plawecki cost them one of the top pitchers in the upcoming free-agent class? Maybe someone the team is quite familiar with? The former Red Sox backstop officially was released Monday after being designated for assignment last Wednesday.
