9/11/24 What we learned as Giants bounce back with blowout vs. Brewers. It has been a while since anyone around the Giants has talked about the MLB playoff race, and for good reason. It was just the 75th time in the 25-year history of the ballpark that a right-handed hitter landed a ball in that section, and the first since a J.D. Davis oppo homer last May (also against Milwaukee, coincidentally).

8/07/24 Yankees rival scoops up veteran they just cut. The whirlwind season for J.D. Davis continues, though it could very well end on a high note. Five days after the New York Yankees released him, Davis was signed by the Baltimore Orioles on a minor-league deal. While Davis will have to work his way back up to the majors, he will at least do so for a team that is one of the best in baseball — and at 67-47, one-half game behind the Yankees in the AL East. Davis, 31, started spring training with the San Francisco Giants, who released the infielder March 11 after signing third baseman Matt Chapman and after Davis won a $6.9 million arbitration hearing in the offseason.

7/24/24 Mike Francesa crushes Yankees lineup with J.D. Davis hitting cleanup: 'Just plain stupid'. The longtime voice of New York sports, Mike Francesa, has hit his tipping point with the Yankees lineup and the J.D. Davis experiment in The Bronx. Davis, a former Met, was slotted into the Yankees' cleanup spot Tuesday behind Aaron Judge , something their crosstown rival used to its advantage in its 3-2 win. “That lineup last night was just plain stupid,” Francesa said on “The Mike Francesa Podcast” on Wednesday. 3 J.D. Davis reacts to a strikeout Tuesday. Charles Wenzelberg / New York Post Judge was walked four times during the game as the Mets pitched around him, choosing to instead attack Davis, who went 0-for-3 with two strikeouts and a double play before being replaced in the seventh. “The

7/19/24 Yankees make big injury move after All-Star break. The New York Yankees are getting some much-needed infield help back after the All-Star Break. The team announced on Friday that they would be activating newly-acquired J.D. Davis off of the 10-day injured list before their game against the Tampa Bay Rays. Davis was initially placed on the injured list on July 12 (retroactive to July 9) due to a stomach flu. Before heading to the IL, Davis had appeared in five games for the Yankees after being acquired in a trade with the Oakland Athletics on June 23.

7/09/24 Yankees' J.D. Davis hopes more players don't fall victim to loophole Giants used against him. When Major League Baseball and the Players Association ratified the current Collective Bargaining Agreement before the 2022 season, one-year contracts for arbitration-eligible players became fully guaranteed for the first time. Unless salaries for such contracts are awarded through a hearing. The San Francisco Giants took advantage of this loophole after taking J.D. Davis to a hearing in February.

7/08/24 Struggling J.D. Davis already facing uphill climb for Yankees playing time. J.D. Davis wasn't expected to be the long-term fix to the Yankees' corner-infield issues, where DJ LeMahieu and Oswaldo Cabrera have struggled at third base and Anthony Rizzo is out with a fractured arm and was slumping even before the injury. Still, when the Yankees traded for the 31-year-old after he was designated for assignment by the A's late last month, they hoped he would contribute against lefty pitching and as Aaron Boone put it, “come here and give us a little spark.” So far, Davis' time with the Yankees has been more of a dud and with the Yankees scheduled to face three right-handed starters in their upcoming series against the Rays at Tampa Bay, it's unclear when that might change.

6/26/24 What Yankees had to say about J.D. Davis' dreadful debut. J.D. Davis struck out twice and grounded into a double play in his Yankees debut, a 9-7 loss to the Mets. AP By Max Goodman | NJ Advance Media for NJ.com NEW YORK — The Yankees acquired corner infielder J.D. Davis this week to provide a spark. He won't be used in a complete platoon at first base with lefty prospect by Ben Rice, but the Yankees like Davis' righty bat against left-handed pitching. 5/21/24 Oakland A's find right formula to beat Colorado Rockies, end skid. The Oakland A's turned to the long ball to help end their season-long eight-game losing streak on Tuesday. J.D. Davis, Seth Brown, and Abraham Toro all homered, with Toro's shot over the right field wall in the bottom of the eighth inning proving to be the difference in the A's 5-4 win over the Colorado Rockies before an announced crowd of 4,005 at the Coliseum.
