10/04/24 Braves Superstar Could Surprisingly Be Available; Red Sox Should Prepare Offer. The Boston Red Sox are desperate for a powerful right-handed bat. Boston might bring back Tyler O'Neill, but an even more potent righty slugger could be available this offseason. Starting now, the Red Sox will be closely monitoring the Atlanta Braves, who have some difficult payroll and roster decisions to make in the coming weeks. The Braves as currently constructed are on track to exceed the competitive balance tax threshold in 2025 for the third straight year.

9/29/24 Red Sox's Tyler O'Neill Expresses 'Mutual Interest' In Potential Reunion. Tyler O'Neill did what he needed to for the Red Sox in 2024. O'Neill slugged 30 home runs, 31 to be exact, for just the second time in his MLB career while playing in 113 games for the Red Sox. Boston acquired him from the St. Louis Cardinals for the season and the 29-year-old now approaches free agency for the first time. "It was an awesome year getting to experience Boston," O'Neill told reporters.

9/26/24 Red Sox Predicted To Lose Home Run Leader Due To 'Frugal Spending'. The Boston Red Sox may be eliminated from playoff contention, but they had some bright spots in 2024. The Red Sox offense was better than many expected this season, ranking in the top 10 in Major League Baseball in scoring, home runs, and OPS. Tyler O'Neill, who the Red Sox acquired via trade from the St. Louis Cardinals for pitchers Nick Robertson and Victor Santos, has been a pleasant surprise this season. Despite some injuries and inconsistency, O'Neill leads Boston with 31 home runs and has a more-than-respectable .847 OPS.

9/20/24 The night the Red Sox' playoff hopes slipped away. The Sox are now five games behind the Twins for the third, and final, Wild Card spot. With eight games remaining, the idea that the Sox could go 6-2, 7-1, or 8-0 — while the Twins, Tigers, and Mariners all collapse completely — is too remote to contemplate. At 76-78, the Sox can stop speaking about playoff aspirations and instead start thinking about consolation prizes (finishing at or above .500? While outfielder Tyler O'Neill suggested the remaining eight games are “do or die,” it seems more accurate to say the postseason is now a lost cause.

9/18/24 Red Sox's Tyler O'Neill Takes Firm Stance On Upcoming Free Agency. Tyler O'Neill, when on the field, slugged his way to a productive season for the Boston Red Sox. O'Neill needed just 101 games to hit 30 home runs for the Red Sox in 2024. It's added to a pattern: when O'Neill is healthy, he hits and does so with plenty of power. The Red Sox acquired O'Neill last offseason with one year remaining on his contract.

9/17/24 Early lead slips, and Red Sox tumble back under .500 with loss to Rays at Tropicana Field. The lingering image of this game was Sox left fielder Tyler O'Neill, with two outs and the bases loaded in a two-run game, making a valiant diving try at a blooper off the bat of Jose Siri in the eighth inning. As O'Neill got a face full of artificial turf, the ball got behind him and three runs scored. Shane Baz (3-3) and two relievers held the Sox to three hits. The Sox are 1-4 on a road trip that has two games remaining.

9/16/24 Red Sox Breakout Star Making It Hard For Team To Not Pay Him $90 Million. The Boston Red Sox certainly won their offseason trade with the St. Louis Cardinals. Boston acquired outfielder Tyler O'Neill from St. Louis, and he has been one of the team's most important offensive players this season. The 29-year-old spent the first six seasons of his career with St. Louis and showed plenty of potential, but injuries negatively impacted his time there. O'Neill finished eighth in the National League Most Valuable Player voting in 2021 and won two Gold Glove Awards, but played over 100 games just once.

9/12/24 Red Sox playoff tracker: Walk-off win helps Boston keep pace in wild card race. BOSTON — With help from Tyler O'Neill , the Red Sox remain alive in the American League wild card playoff chase. O'Neill's 10th-inning, walk-off, three-run homer carried the Red Sox over the Baltimore Orioles, 5-3, Wednesday night. The homer gave the Sox their second straight series win as the team's homestand came to a close. The victory kept the Sox four games behind Minnesota in the race for the third and final wild card spot. “It's still there,” said manager Alex Cora of his team's chance to qualify for the postseason. The Red Sox now head out for their second-to-last road trop of the year, set to play four games in New York, followed by three in Tampa Bay. The Red Sox are not alone in their

9/11/24 The Red Sox appeared headed toward another letdown against the Orioles, but Tyler O'Neill had other plans. Tyler O'Neill belted a walkoff homer late Wednesday evening off Orioles lefthander Keegan Akin that propelled the Sox to a 5-3 win and a series victory. Romy Gonzalez reached on an error by Orioles' second baseman Jackson Holliday in the bottom of the 10th inning with the Sox trailing, 3-2. There are just a few weeks to go until the 2024 Major League Baseball regular season comes to an end. One of Boston's top players heading toward free agency certainly is outfielder Tyler O'Neill. The Red Sox acquired him knowing there was a possibility that it could be just a one-year partnership.

9/01/24 Red Sox's Tyler O'Neill Envisions 'Good Streak' In September. Boston went 13-15 in August and continued its streak of not recording a series sweep since the MLB All-Star break, however, outfielder Tyler O'Neill isn't lowering the bar of expectations for the final month of regular season baseball. "There's still lots of baseball to play," O'Neill said Sunday, per MLB.com's Ian Browne.

8/31/24 Red Sox Weakness Exploited Once Again In Loss To Likely Cy Young Winner. Tyler O'Neill threw the first punch, but Tarik Skubal sure got the last laugh. The Boston Red Sox suffered a 2-1 defeat at the hands of the Detroit Tigers on Saturday evening, and Skubal flummoxed Boston's lineup for eight dominant innings. After O'Neill's solo home run in the first inning, Boston did not get a runner past third base. Skubal finished the day with just four hits allowed, no walks, and eight strikeouts.

8/28/24 Blue Jays Just Can't Limit Damage From This Red Sox Slugger. Tyler O'Neill has plenty of power. The Boston Red Sox have seen that as long as the outfielder's been healthy in 2024. No team has seen the damage O'Neill can do in Boston like the Toronto Blue Jays. O'Neill smashed an important two-run homer to add insurance in a 3-0 win for the Red Sox on Wednesday night.

8/27/24 Ex-Cardinals Gold Glover Reportedly 'Close To Signing' Deal With AL West Front-Runner. The St. Louis Cardinals outfield has seen many changes over the last few seasons, with players being traded left and right to invest in other areas of the roster. Star outfielders who have left the Cardinals organization over the last few seasons include Tyler O'Neill, Randy Arozarena, Marcell Ozuna and Harrison Bader -- to name a few. Another former Cardinals outfielder, recently made available, is reportedly close to signing with an American League West playoff contender.

8/24/24 Red Sox's Alex Cora Provides Positive Update On Tyler O'Neill. Tyler O'Neill suffered a unique injury before Friday's loss to the Arizona Diamondbacks, which marked another ailment for the Red Sox outfielder. The Red Sox scratched O'Neill from Friday's lineup due to a left fourth finger inflammation. O'Neill dealt with a left leg infection, a concussion and right knee inflammation at different points this season that forced him to be placed on the injured list three times. Alex Cora was hopeful it wouldn't be a fourth time for O'Neill.
