Robert said he feels embarrassed and responsible for what has happened to the White Sox, who were tied with the 1962 New York Mets for the modern major league record of 120 losses entering their game against the Los Angeles Angels. In the last ten years, the way that Major League Baseball pays its most coveted prospects is changing. In 2016, Luis Robert Jr. received a six-year, $50 million contract before he ever played an MLB game, which many deemed a ludicrous deal because of the fact. The Oakland Athletics appeared to have Luis Robert Jr. picked off when he took off for second base in the first inning on Sunday. Luis Robert Jr.'s stats are still not pretty, but the White Sox center fielder has shown signs he might be breaking out of a season-long offensive funk. After going 2-for-4 in Friday night's 5-2 loss to the Tigers, Robert was hitting .378 (14-for-37) in his last nine games with two homers and six RBI. “The at-bats did improve [on the just-concluded road trip],” interim manager Grady Sizemore said before the game.
