10/04/24 Seattle Seahawks bold predictions for Week 5 vs. Giants. With a new head coach, Mike Macdonald, calling the shots, an elite defense with an in-vogue scheme, and a point differential of +17, Geno Smith has led his team to the best mark in the NFC West, even if the 49ers are giving the team a run for their money at 2-2. While this game may not look like the shootouts Seattle has taken on over the past few years, as they might be up double-digits at the half, it should result in another Seahawks win all the same.

10/04/24 ‘He’s special’: One play at Detroit shows why Seahawks’ Geno Smith is atop NFL in passing. Play caller Ryan Grubb says the Pro Bowl quarterback the last 2 years has improved in a key area. Smith showed it off in Detroit.

10/02/24 Seattle Seahawks' Geno a trailblazer in how QBs now find success. Is there any other quarterback doing what Geno Smith is doing right now for the Seattle Seahawks? Smith is leading all passers in yards this season and is second only to rookie Jayden Daniels (Washington) in completion percentage. It's a stellar start to the season for a 33-year-old quarterback who had some wondering this offseason whether he could be supplanted by the younger Sam Howell (it was never close).

10/02/24 Where Seahawks stand in NFL power rankings after suffering first loss. The NFL power-ranking industry was waiting for the Seahawks to play a measuring-stick game. The Seahawks had fattened up on too many weak teams, the power rankers said last week. We need to see what they can do against a real offense, they said. They got their answer Monday night, as the short-handed Seahawks couldn't stop the Lions during a 42-29 loss in Detroit. So if the Seahawks failed their first “real” test, it must mean they dropped like a stone in the NFL power rankings, right? Well, not so fast. They dropped a few spots, but rankers seem to take into account all the injuries the Seahawks dealt with on defense. And the offense impressed as quarterback Geno Smith had a career night. Here's

10/02/24 A Giants tale of two QBs: How Daniel Jones vs. Geno Smith symbolizes a decade for Big Blue. Geno Smith replaced Eli Manning as Giants' QB once, creating such chaos. His actual successor, Daniel Jones, now plays every game to keep his job.

10/01/24 5 Turning Points That Led to Seattle Seahawks Suffering First Loss. The Seahawks dropped their first game of the 2024 season in Detroit. In a tough road environment, Seattle was out-gunned while down several defensive starters. The Seahawks were down 7-0 quickly in the first quarter and were looking to respond. Geno Smith connected with Metcalf at the Lions' 34 yard line.

10/01/24 Patriots Mailbag: Buying some time, pass defense woes, when to start Maye and more. What seemed to be up with the pass defense from Week 1 to Weeks 2, 3 and 4? It seemed like against Seattle and the Jets they were able to find the holes every time. Was that more to do with the pass rush not getting to Geno Smith and Aaron Rodgers like they did to Joe Burrow? Burrow and Smith were sacked three times each while Rodgers and Brock Purdy only went down three times total, but overall I feel the pressure hasn't been consistent in any game.

9/29/24 Seahawks’ 3 key at Lions begin in the middle of the line; plus, the TNT’s pick. Geno Smith tries to do it to the Lions again. Aidan Hutchinson gets a rematch against a surprising Seattle fill-in tackle.

9/26/24 Chemistry Coming to Life For Seattle Seahawks' Geno Smith, DK Metcalf. Since Geno Smith took over as the Seattle Seahawks new starter under center prior to the 2022 season, he and DK Metcalf have formed one of the more prolific quarterback/receiver duos in the NFL over the past two seasons, linking up 148 times for 2,020 yards and 13 touchdowns. Echoing the words that rolled off of coach Mike Macdonald's tongue in regard to the undefeated Seahawks during his weekly press conference on Monday, as they have already demonstrated during the team's hot 3-0 start, Smith and Metcalf "can be so much better." Through the first three weeks of the season, few quarterback/receiver combos have been more dynamic than Smith and Metcalf, who have connected 17 times for 262 yards and a pair of touchdowns.

9/23/24 Dolphins-Seahawks: The Five Biggest Plays. This one would hurt no matter, but the fact it came immediately after the Dolphins cut their deficit to 10-3 made it especially painful when it seemed apparent early that scoring points was going to be an issue. On this 71-yard touchdown, the Dolphins played Cover-2, with Jalen Ramsey responsible for the underneath throw and Jevon Holland having coverage over the top. The problem came when Holland bit on Metcalf's quick fake to go inside before he went up top. Once Metcalf caught Geno Smith's long pass, he wasn't going to get caught from behind.

9/22/24 Geno Smith to DK Metcalf sparks Seahawks’ fast start, defense dominates Miami in win. Seahawks are 3-0 for the eighth time, and first time since 2020. But how good is the early first-place team in the NFC West?

9/20/24 Dave Hyde: Geno Smith, in his winning second act, takes on hometown Dolphins. Damon Cogdell hesitates to say it. “I don’t want to tell people, ‘I told you so,’” he says. The former Miramar High coach remembers saying to be patient more than a decade ago when his quarterback, Geno Smith, struggled in his opening NFL act. He said for everyone to wait, just wait, when Smith then played in just five games in six years with four teams. And now … “I told everyone so,’’ he ...

9/19/24 Kenneth Walker III injury update isn't good news for Week 3 availability. The team came away with the overtime victory thanks largely to a strong performance from Geno Smith. The Seahawks were more dependent on the passing game than usual as starting running back Kenneth Walker III was forced to miss the contest after straining his oblique in the season opener. Walker had yet to return to the field by Wednesday and now he's missed practice for the second straight day, according to ESPN's Field Yates on X. Barring an unexpected return on Friday, Walker appears set to miss the Seahawks Week Three matchup with the Dolphins, meaning backup Zach Charbonnet could once again assume lead back duties.

9/18/24 Week 3 Fantasy Football Waiver Wire: Former Giants QB Geno Smith Among Recommended Adds. 'Put the Ball in 7s Hands': Seahawks QB Geno Smith Discusses Clutch Gene The New York Giants are 0-2 and there are only so many moves they can make at this point to improve. But for Fantasy Football owners, you have plenty of options this week such as... QB Geno Smith It appears that the Seattle Seahawks are ready to recognize that their team is much better when then they throw the ball. With weapons like DK Metcalf, Jaxon Smith-Njigba, and Tyler Lockett for Geno Smith to throw to, that should be the focal point of the offense. In Week 2 against the New England Patriots, Smith dropped back 48 times and threw for 327 yards and a touchdown. If the Seahawks keep that volume up, which they should,

9/17/24 Seattle Seahawks Check-In: Big game reiterates Geno's value. At one point this summer, Geno Smith's representatives reached out to the Seattle Seahawks wondering if they wanted to start discussions on a contract extension. Understandably, the Seahawks wanted to wait. With a new coaching staff and Smith under contract through next season, there was no point to address the situation now. “That was a heck of a performance, man,” Seattle coach Mike Macdonald said Monday.

9/17/24 Mike Vorel: The Seahawks have two encouraging wins … and plenty to prove. With 2:57 left in the first quarter Sunday, Geno Smith took a shotgun snap, looked left and saw a 6-foot-4, 235-pound blur behind the defense. The 33-year-old quarterback's feathery spiral hit DK Metcalf in stride, and he high-stepped into the end zone for a 56-yard score. After crossing the goal line, Metcalf waved at and approached a member of the “Patriots Militia,” who sport (arguably) authentic 18th-century garb and fire celebratory muskets after home touchdowns. Undeterred, Metcalf lifted his leg and raised his right hand, a presidential impersonation … in need of explanation.

9/16/24 Mountaineers in the Pros: Week Two. Week two of the NFL season brought a lot of excitement for former Mountaineers in the NFL as many picked up wins on Sunday. Geno Smith Geno Smith and the Seattle Seahawks hit the road to head to New England to face the Patriots.

9/16/24 Seattle Seahawks QB Geno Smith dares NFL teams to blitz after burning Patriots: 'It really didn't pay off for them'. The New England Patriots turned out to be a tough nut to crack. Under the direction of rookie head coach Jerod Mayo the Pats ran the ball really well and played tight defense throughout Sunday's game. The Seattle Seahawks came out on top in overtime though, thanks mostly to the exploits of starting quarterback Geno Smith and his top two wide receivers: DK Metcalf and Jaxon Smith-Njigba. The Patriots DBs on the left side of the field blew the coverage on Metcalf, who streaked right past them for one of the easiest touchdowns of his career.

9/15/24 Geno Smith does it all — again — in 1-dimensional Seahawks’ 23-20 OT win at Patriots. The running game went nowhere. So Smith did it all on offense. The defense turned away New England multiple times. Seattle 2-0.
