9/21/24 Phillies outfielder receives potential injury return date. Philadelphia Phillies outfielder Austin Hays is nearing a return to the team after spending time on the injured list due to a kidney infection. Hays is set to begin a two-game rehab stint with Triple-A Lehigh Valley, where he will serve as the designated hitter on Saturday and play left field in the IronPigs' season finale on Sunday, September 22. Following a recovery day on Monday, September 23, Hays is expected to be activated for the second game of the Phillies' three-game series against the Chicago Cubs on September 25.

9/19/24 The Philadelphia Phillies Should Reconsider Carlos Estevez's Role Ahead of Playoffs. The Philadelphia Phillies approached the 2024 MLB Trade Deadline with their intentions set on acquiring bullpen help and a fourth outfielder to add to their mix. Now over 50 days removed from the deadline, none of the moves have worked as the Phillies had hoped. The fourth outfielder, Austin Hays, was used as an everyday player and struggled in the role, and is now on his second injured list stint since being acquired. One of the relievers acquired, Tanner Banks, has been used in a long relief role or lefty specialist situations, but has been shaky if not used frequently.

9/15/24 Philadelphia Phillies Injured Outfielder Could Miss Rest of Regular Season. Coming down the stretch, the most important thing for the Philadelphia Phillies is to get healthy. The Phillies still have two more key contributors on the injured list with Austin Hays and Edmundo Sosa trying to work their way back. When it comes to Hays, his diagnosis is a little bit harder to gauge because he's dealing with a kidney infection that will require him to recover his strength and make sure he's fully healthy so there's no long-term ramifications.

9/09/24 Philadelphia Phillies Late-Season Matchup Against Mets Gets Moved Into Primetime. After previously winning six games in a row, the Philadelphia Phillies lost two consecutive against the Miami Marlins over the weekend that caused a split instead of a dominating series victory. The losses aren't overly concerning at the moment unlike immediately after the All-Star break. The Phillies have been able to build enough of a lead where the NL East isn't really in jeopardy anymore, although they still need to play well coming down the stretch to officially secure the title. Once enjoying a relatively clean bill of health throughout the year, Philadelphia has now placed Austin Hays, Alec Bohm, and Edmundo Sosa on the injured list in subsequent days, with J.T. Realmuto also on the sidelines for the next couple of contests with a swollen knee.

8/21/24 Austin Hays expected to reclaim Phillies' primary left field job as he nears his return from injury. Before he strained his left hamstring two weeks ago, Austin Hays got most of the playing time in left field for the Phillies. Hays batted second and played left field Wednesday for triple-A Lehigh Valley, his second game in as many nights. » READ MORE: Bryce Harper is right. This is a big series for the Phillies, not just the Braves.

8/16/24 Johan Rojas Taking Advantage of Another Phillies Opportunity. When the Phillies traded for Austin Hays just before the deadline and proclaimed him an everyday outfielder, it was obviously going to come at the expense of someone already on the roster. At the time, manager Rob Thomson said it would cost Johan Rojas playing time – and it made sense. Hays was a better hitter than Rojas and the Phillies were willing to sacrifice a little bit of defense by sliding Brandon Marsh over to center and putting Hays in left if it lengthened the lineup.

8/14/24 Phillies Face Setback as Austin Hays Hits 10-Day IL. The Philadelphia Phillies are dealing with yet another injury this season. On Friday, left fielder Austin Hays was placed on the 10-day injured list due to a hamstring strain in his left leg. Unfortunately, this injury came just as Hays was starting to get comfortable after being traded to the Phillies from the Baltimore Orioles. It's been a tough season for the Phillies—this marks the fourth hamstring injury they've had to navigate.

8/08/24 Phillies observations: A change for Cristopher Sánchez, Austin Hays' adjustment, and more. After a rough few weeks, the Phillies finally won a series and sit atop the sport again with the best record (68-46). Going into Thursday's game, the Phillies have a 7½-game lead over the Mets in the National League East. Cristopher Sánchez recorded a 6.59 ERA in five July starts and had one of his worst outings of the season on July 31 against the Yankees. The left-hander allowed six runs on eight hits with one walk in 5? innings.

8/02/24 Did Philadelphia Phillies Fleece Baltimore Orioles at Trade Deadline?. The Philadelphia Phillies and Baltimore Orioles were busy ahead of last week's trade deadline, especially with each other. In the first one, the Orioles sent outfielder Austin Hays to the Phillies for reliever Seranthony Dominguez and outfielder Cristian Pache on July 26. In the second one, Baltimore acquired another Philadelphia reliever, getting Gregory Soto in exchange for two prospects (Seth Johnson and Moises Chace) on July 30.

7/31/24 Gregory Soto Can't Regain Form, Philadelphia Phillies Pull Plug on Him. The Philadelphia Phillies and Baltimore Orioles have gotten to know each other very well over the last few days. Very rarely do contenders make a deal with each other ahead of the MLB trade deadline, but these teams made two. The first one centered around outfielder Austin Hays, whom the Phillies acquired in exchange for right-handed reliever Seranthony Dominguez and outfielder Cristian Pache. A second deal was completed ahead of the trade deadline, centered around left-handed reliever Gregory Soto.
