Reid Detmers worked six solid innings and Brandon Drury and Niko Kavadas homered to lead the Los Angeles Angels to a 6-2 victory over the struggling Minnesota Twins. Detmers allowed five hits and struck out eight — including the last three batters he face — for his first win since April 12 against Boston when he started the season 3-0. Drury hit his fourth homer of the season, a two-run shot, in the the third inning and Kavadas added a two-run homer, his third, in the sixth inning. On the same day that José Soriano struggled in the big leagues, showing signs that led the Angels to place on him on the injured list with arm fatigue, Reid Detmers had his best start of the season in Triple-A. It would be easy for the Angels to justify bringing Detmers back to the majors to take Soriano's spot in the rotation, which comes up on Wednesday. 8/03/24	Angels pitching coach Barry Enright believes Reid Detmers is almost ready to return. Reid Detmers is set for his 10th start at Triple-A on Sunday, and if all goes well, it could be his last. Pitching coach Barry Enright, who has been in close contact with Detmers and Salt Lake pitching coach Shane Loux, said on Saturday that there is a growing belief that the left-hander is almost ready to return to the big leagues. “In my communication with Shane, people think he is,” Enright said on Saturday.
