6/04/24 Nelson Velazquez's ninthinning triple sparks KC Royals' comeback against Padres. The Royals' improbable 4-3 triumph over the San Diego Padres on Sunday was built on a series of firsts. Nelson Velazquez provided the game's most electrifying moment when he banged his first triple as a Royal off the Boulevard sign in leftcenter field in the ninth. The blast scored two and tied the game 3-3 at Kauffman Stadium.

6/02/24 Nelson Velazquez, Royals bid to avert sweep vs. Padres. Nelson Velazquez is rediscovering his power stroke. As the Kansas City Royals bid to salvage the finale of their three-game series against the visiting San Diego Padres on Sunday afternoon, Velazquez has six homers in his last 14 games. Before his recent power surge, Velazquez had just two homers in 37 games and saw a need to refocus. "They've been working on some of the mechanics, trying to get him back closer to where he was last year," Royals manager Matt Quatraro said after Velazquez's two-homer effort at Minnesota on May 29.

5/29/24 Bailey Ober hammered in Twins’ 6-1 loss to Royals. There was a lot of hard contact made on Wednesday at Target Field, by both the Twins and Kansas City Royals — the Royals a little harder. Nelson Velazquez homered twice and drove in three runs as Kansas City rang up Twins right-hander Bailey Ober for six runs, plenty for Royals ace Seth Lugo in a x-x victory in front of an announced crowd of 18,130. The Twins entered the game with six wins in ...

5/15/24 Deadspin | Royals' Nelson Velazquez looks to continue hot streak vs. Mariners. Judging by what they saw after acquiring Nelson Velazquez at the trade deadline last year, the Kansas City Royals expected big things from the outfielder this season. Velazquez hit a three-run homer in the seventh inning Tuesday as the Royals rallied for a 4-2 victory at Seattle. Velazquez's homer was his first in 101 at-bats since April 4 and just his third in 37 games this season. It came off Seattle's Logan Gilbert, who had pitched 6 2/3 innings of three-hit ball to that point.

4/04/24 Royals score 8 in 7th inning to crush White Sox. Nelson Velazquez and MJ Melendez homered, and Seth Lugo escaped several jams as the host Kansas City Royals blasted the Chicago White Sox 10-1 on Thursday evening. 12/19/23 Nelson Velazquez, 2024 Fantasy Sleeper. There's going to be guys who are sleepers for friends and family leagues and there will be sleepers for deep leagues, and there might be sleepers for both. Imagine Nelson Velazquez won't fall into the Both category. He feels to me like a guy who will get a lot of helium in those "We're Smart" leagues. They're not actually "Smart" leagues, but if you play in a deep league, you think you're smart. I've said many times that I think shallow leagues are just as hard. Or just a shard if glass is reading. In shallow leagues, it's a nonstop debate if a guy is producing enough, even if they're supposed to be great down the road. In "smart" leagues, you usually can't do anything after your draft that makes much of a difference. That doesn't make things smarter. With that said, I think Nelson Velazquez will be appreciated readily in "smart" leagues but shouldn't only be in "smart" leagues. This guy is a dumb league guy too! Wait until you hear what he did last year (at the age of 24!), you're gonna blow your freakin' lid, smarties and dummies alike! In Triple-A and the majors combined, he hit 33 homers, stole seven bags and, holy schnike balls, I see why those smarties are in on this guy. Let's see if we can convince the dummies! So, what can we expect from Nelson Velazquez for 2024 fantasy baseball and what makes him a sleeper?

8/17/23 Rodriguez has 5 hits, 5 RBIs and go-ahead 3-run shot in the eighth as Mariners beat Royals 6-4. Julio Rodriguez had a career-high five hits to go with five RBIs, including a go-ahead three-run homer in the eighth inning, as the Mariners rallied to beat Kansas City 6-4. Rodriguez's homer was his 20th of the season, to go with 30 stolen bases, making him just the fourth Seattle player ever to make the 20-30 club. Nelson Velazquez homered for the fourth time in seven games with Kansas City. Both teams made a series of baserunning blunders. Each team had a player thrown out at the plate, another was cut down on the basepaths, one was picked off first and Seattle had a runner called out after he started back to the dugout on a dropped fly ball.
