9/29/24 Royals close out the regular season with a win; attention turns to October. The playoff-bound Kansas City Royals ended the 2024 regular season with a 4-2 win over the Atlanta Braves, on Sunday, to finish the year with a mark of 86-76. The victory also stopped the Braves from notching a sweep over KC. Scoring-wise, all it took was a couple of home runs off the bats of Michael Massey and Hunter Renfroe to seal the win for skipper Matt Quatraro's team.

9/28/24 Royals look to steady ship for postseason; Braves not there yet. The Kansas City Royals are heading to the postseason for the first time since they won the 2015 World Series. A loser of eight of its last 11 games, Kansas City will look to get back on track Saturday night when it plays the second contest of its three-game series against the host Atlanta Braves (87-71). The Royals mustered just three hits -- including two doubles by Michael Massey -- in a 3-0 setback in the series opener on Friday. Kansas City, however, punched its ticket to the postseason after the Minnesota Twins lost 7-2 to the Baltimore Orioles later in the night.

9/25/24 Royals trim magic number to 3 after win over Nationals. The Kansas City Royals are slowly coming out of their offensive funk. After snapping a 27-inning scoreless streak on Tuesday, the Royals strung together three runs in Wednesday's shutout 3-0 win over the Washington Nationals. Royals shortstop Michael Massey laced an RBI single in the third inning. Later, designated hitter Robbie Grossman recorded a two-run single.

The staggering Chicago White Sox lost their 16th straight game, extending a franchise record, as Michael Massey homered and Michael Wacha pitched seven strong innings to lead the Kansas City Royals to a 4-3 victory. Bobby Witt Jr. ran his hitting streak to 12 games and had the first RBI in an eighth-inning rally that gave the Royals the lead for good. Chicago’s Andrew Vaughn homered for the second consecutive night and rookie Jonathan Cannon pitched seven terrific innings, allowing only Massey’s solo shot. He gave way to rookie Fraser Ellard, who walked two in his major league debut to set the stage for Kansas City’s comeback. Sam Long worked a clean ninth for his fourth career save and first this season.

6/29/24 Royals vie for third straight win in series with Guardians. The Kansas City Royals are glad to have Michael Massey back in action, even if it's only as a hitter instead of his regular role at second base. The Royals have beaten the visiting Cleveland Guardians twice to open a four-game series that continues Saturday afternoon. "We're going to listen to him," Royals manager Matt Quatraro said. Massey, who often bats fifth behind Salvador Perez, has a .283 average and six homers.

5/21/24 Massey, Perez hit homers to lead Royals in 8-3 win over Tigers. Michael Massey and Salvador Perez homered as the Kansas City Royals beat the Detroit Tigers 8-3 for their fourth straight win. Massey had a leadoff homer in the second inning for the first long ball given up this season by Tigers starter Reese Olson after 48 1/3 innings. In his next at-bat, Massey stunned Olson with a liner off his right hip while Vinnie Pasquantino scored on catcher Jake Rogers’ throwing error for a 2-0 Royals lead. Perez led off the sixth with his ninth homer as the Royals greeted reliever Joey Wentz with five consecutive hits. Seven straight batters reached safely while Kansas City scored six runs to build an 8-1 lead. Michael Wacha allowed two runs and six hits in seven innings to win his third straight start. Chris Stratton recorded four outs for his third save.

Freddie Fermin and Michael Massey also had RBI during the Royals' four-run fourth inning, and Lugo (6-1) made it stand up as Kansas City took three of four from the Angels. But they broke through in the seventh against the Brewers’ bullpen. Cole Ragans allowed two runs on two hits in six innings for the Royals, striking out eight. Reliever Nick Anderson got the win.
