10/04/24	Season over: Milwaukee Brewers fall in stunning fashion to NY Mets. MILWAUKEE, WI (WTAQ-WNFL) – The Milwaukee Brewers' 2024 season came to an end Thursday night in stunning fashion. The Brewers on solo home runs by Sal Frelick and Jake Bauers in the seventh inning had a 2-0 lead on the New York Mets with Devin Williams coming in to close out the game and send the Brewers to the NLDS against the Philadelphia Phillies. Williams struggled to find the strike zone, allowing a walk to Franciso Lindor, a single to Brandon Nimmo and then a 3-run home run to Pete Alonso. Williams then hit Jesse Winker with a pitch. Winker then stole second and came home to score on Jose Iglesias's single. Sal Frelick returned to the Milwaukee Brewers' lineup for the start of the playoffs without needing to worry about hitting any metal if he crashed into a wall again. Frelick bruised his hip Friday when his left side made contact with the metal chain link inside a window in American Family Field’s right field sidewall that had no protective padding. After a scary incident during Friday's 8-4 win over the postseason-hopeful New York Mets on Friday, they could be without one of their most important players for a significant amount of time. Brewers outfielder Sal Frelick crashed into the right field wall and had to leave the game after trying to make a spectacular catch on a foul ball in the third inning. (WNFL) – The Milwaukee Brewers picked up a pair of wins in steamy Cincinnati on Friday, winning the opener 5-4 in 10 innings and erupting for 10 runs in the ninth inning of the nightcap to beat the Reds 14-0. In the opener, the Brewers picked up the win when Sal Frelick grounded into a double play that scored Eric Haase. Willy Adames and William Contreras each homered for Milwaukee in the opener. Adames hit his 25th home run while Contreras hit his 19th. Colin Rea started and lasted just 4 innings, allowing 4 runs on 6 hits.
