9/05/24 2 matchups Cardinals sprang on Brewers to win another game too close for comfort. When the Cardinals readied to make the move Wednesday the Brewers were not convinced they would, the one that replaced one of the better hitters and best fielders from the lineup in extra innings, the move that tilted the game back in the Cardinals' favor, Luken Baker made sure he was standing nearby manager Oliver Marmol. Pressed into extra innings for a second consecutive night against at American Family Field, the Cardinals edged the Brewers, 3-2, in the 10th inning of a chess master matchup to win another taut game and claim another series.

8/22/24 Cardinals 'Shouldn't Shy Away' From Utilizing Young Hurler To Boost Rotation. The St. Louis Cardinals active roster is jam-packed and there isn't much room for prospects who won't have an impact to be called up at this point in the season. Recently promoted slugger Luken Baker is a perfect example -- he was recalled from Triple-A Memphis to help improve the lineup's production against left-handed pitchers. In his first at-bat since the promotion, he belted a two-run home run that helped St. Louis tie a crucial three-game series against the division-rival Milwaukee Brewers. The Cardinals need more of that -- a hungry competitor ready to rise to the occasion.

8/13/24 As he keeps hitting home runs in Memphis, Luken Baker wonders if he will get another chance with Cardinals. It's been six years since Luken Baker played baseball at TCU but some advice he received back then has helped him get through what could be considered a frustrating time in his career with the Cardinals. Despite hitting the most home runs in the minor leagues since the start of the 2023 season, 64, Baker is seemingly blocked at Triple A as he waits for an opportunity to rejoin the major-league club. “There's no reason to make yourself mad,” said Baker, who hit his 31st homer of this season on Saturday. Part of the reason that Baker has been able to keep that positive attitude dates back to the advice he received at TCU from Brian Cain, who worked with athletes there as a mental strength coach.

8/20/23 Mets (yeah, those Mets) school humdrum Cardinals in practice of winning despite losing year. When the Cardinals pivoted this season to give more opportunities and playing time to younger, newer players, the late-game, mop-up duties in lost causes was not what they had in mind. In the final innings of the latest ragged loss to the New York Mets, out came Luken Baker to replace Paul Goldschmidt at first base, in came newly promoted Guillermo Zuniga to pitch the ninth, and already out of the game were Nolan Arenado and Willson Contreras. The lineup did not reflect a losing team trying to audition for a better year ahead as much as a team trying to conserve its starters today in just another loss. The replacements came in a game when the Cardinals scored as many runs (two) as they had errors (two).
