10/01/24 Chicago Cubs Players Get Big News About Their Future All-Star Game Uniforms. This year's Chicago Cubs All-Stars wore a unique jersey for the All-Star Game in Arlington, Texas. The black jerseys with teal sleeves were worn by all players in the game, including pitcher Shota Imanaga. When the game is played in Atlanta in 2025, the Cubs will be wearing their own home white jerseys with the blue pinstripes and that iconic logo on the front. MLB announced on Monday that the game was returning to its roots, as National League players will wear their home white jerseys and American League players will wear their road gray jerseys.

9/28/24 Cubs' Shoto Imanaga goes 15-3 with a 2.91 ERA in 29 starts as rookie. Shota Imanaga won't start for the Chicago Cubs against Cincinnati on Sunday and finished his rookie season 15-3 with a 2.91 ERA in 29 starts. The 31-year-old left-hander from Japan won't pitch because the “risk-reward benefit was not there," manager Craig Counsell said Saturday. Imanaga struck out 174 and walked 28 in 173 1/3 innings.

9/18/24 Chicago Cubs Skipper Says Star Pitcher Has 'Passed Every Test'. Coming into the year, the Chicago Cubs were extremely happy when they landed Japanese international free agent Shota Imanaga after missing out on phenom Yoshinobu Yamamoto. The left-hander was one of the best pitchers in Nippon Professional Baseball, making him a desired player on the open market. Perhaps if he had been the sole Japanese pitcher coming over, he would have been at the top of target boards by multiple teams around the league. Instead, he largely went under the radar, landing with the Cubs on a four-year, $53 million contract that paled in comparison to the 12-year, $325 million deal his countryman Yamamoto signed.

9/17/24 Shota Imanaga's 'Thankful' Message To Craig Counsell After Achieving Rookie Season Goal. Shota Imanaga's rookie MLB season with the Chicago Cubs has been a success. The 31-year-old Imanaga made the All-Star team and has a 3.03 ERA across 166.1 innings. Although he probably won't get to take the mound in the postseason, his first MLB journey went very well. Imanaga was very thankful for Cubs manager Craig Counsell, who helped him reach the innings total he aimed for before the season, according to Casey Drottar of MLB.com.

9/08/24 MLB Insider Reports There is 'Internal Friction' Inside Chicago Cubs Front Office. This has not been the season the Chicago Cubs envisioned. After they heartbreakingly missed the playoffs by one game last year, the ownership group and front office proclaimed they were going to put together a roster that would contend for the postseason. The Cubs were eventually able to bring in some additions, notably signing star international pitcher Shota Imanaga, star reliever Hector Neris, and reuniting with Cody Bellinger late in the process after it looked like that wouldn't happen.

8/29/24 Cubs All-Star surprisingly ranks No. 3 on impressive list in new report. The Chicago Cubs have had a disappointing season until recently, but their rookie pitcher has given the fan base something to smile about all year long. Shota Imanaga, along with starters Justin Steele and Jameson Taillon, forms a robust pitching staff that should help make the Cubs relevant again in 2025, or perhaps sooner if they can shock the world and surge into a playoff spot in the final month here. Chicago knew what it had in Steele and Taillon, but Imanaga's rookie campaign has been a delightful surprise.
