9/30/24 [NBC Sports Bay Area] - How Hernáiz, Schuemann made history in Oakland A's last game. Darell Hernáiz and Max Schuemann made history in the Oakland Athletics’ final game. In the bottom of the ninth, trailing by four runs, the A’s rookie outfielder cut that deficit in half with a two-run double, registering the organization’s final RBI hit in its 57-year Oakland era. After reaching second base, Hernáiz turned to his teammates at the dugout and swiped his right hand across the “Oakland” embroidered on his jersey. “That’s pretty crazy,” Hernáiz said (). “I can’t even really fathom that. One day, I’ll be able to look back on it. “For the fans, we just feel for them and want to give them the best show we possibly can for years to come. Hopefully, they can still root for us.” The A’s comeback attempt didn’t have a fairytale ending on Sunday afternoon at T-Mobile Park, however. On a 3-2 count, Schuemann struck out with a runner on second base, recording Oakland’s final out in MLB history. The A’s capped the organization’s 9,002nd and final game with a 6-4 defeat ahead of their move to West Sacramento’s Sutter Health Park. The town is now without representation in MLB, the NBA or the AFL/NFL for the first time since 1959. And as painful as the countdown might have been for fans, Oakland’s lasts on the diamond were only a matter of time. That said, the history books are always taking names, dates and numbers down. On Sunday, Hernáiz and Schuemann were penciled in as contributors in a unique moment in baseball history.

7/29/24 That’s What I Like: Max Schuemann, Nolan Schanuel, Robbie Ray. Folx, it's RazzBowl time! I know it's SEO death to start a baseball article with an advertisement for a football league, but we're kind of in the fantasy baseball abyss and football draft season is starting. If you're in RazzBowl with me, feel free to give a shout. If you publicly hate football (like Grey) but secretly love a team that plays on the opposite coast from you that is named after a Dolphin (like Grey), let me know who you're cheering for in the comments. 7/21/24 A's aim to finish off home season sweep of Angels. The Oakland Athletics have a chance to complete a season-long, six-game home sweep of the Los Angeles Angels for the first time since 1991 when the California rivals meet for what is expected to be the final time at the stadium by the San Francisco Bay on Sunday afternoon. The A's added to a three-game home sweep earlier this month with 13-3 and 8-2 romps the past two days, putting them within reach of the 6-0 whitewashing they put on what was then the California Angels 33 years ago. After a pair of shutouts drove the July 2-4 wins, the A's have overpowered their visitors with 25 hits, including four home runs, in the encore performance. Leading the way the past two days have been Max Schuemann, who has gone 4-for-6 with two doubles, a homer, five RBIs and five runs, and Lawrence Butler, who has gone 5-for-8 with a double, triple and five RBIs.
