8/11/24 Should Cubs extend All-Star outfielder? 'I see no reason', says insider. The Chicago Cubs have had a confusing season, and they'll have pivotal roster choices to make this winter. With president of baseball operations Jed Hoyer literally fighting for his job over the next calendar year, he'll be thinking long and hard about what to do with valuable pieces like Jameson Taillon and Cody Bellinger. Bellinger presents an interesting scenario for Hoyer. The former National League MVP and two-time All-Star can elect to opt out of his contract at the end of this season.

8/09/24 Cubs coveted hurler surprisingly traded in new prediction for 2025 season. The Chicago Cubs have one of Major League Baseball's most impressive pitching rotations on paper, which certainly contributes to the mystery surrounding Chicago's (so far) failed season. One of the Cubs' most reliable starters is Jameson Taillon, who attracted a ton of suitors around the trade deadline. Taillon ultimately stayed put, but his future in Chicago remains uncertain. The 32-year-old starter is in the second year of his four-year, $68 million contract with the Cubs, but a new report indicates that Chicago could be trading Taillon next season.

7/30/24 Coveted Cubs hurler does not have Dodgers on no-trade list. The Chicago Cubs have been buying and selling this year at the trade deadline. According to Jon Heyman of the New York Post, one of their potentially coveted pieces has a few teams on his no-trade clause, but the Los Angeles Dodgers are not one of them. "Uncertain if Jameson Taillon is still out there in trade talks but in case: his 10-team no-trade list does not include Yankees, Mets, Dodgers, Padres (and 15 others)," Heyman tweeted.

7/30/24 Jameson Taillon drops hint about Cubs' plan amid MLB trade deadline rumors. With a 51-57 record that has them at last place in the NL Central, one would think that the Chicago Cubs would be inclined to sell with the MLB trade deadline inching closer and closer. Now, the question is, how does Paredes' arrival affect the Cubs' direction with regards to the future of Jameson Taillon, the 32-year-old starter who's currently in the middle of a solid season? Taillon, who remains under contract until 2026 and has a no-trade clause blocking potential deals to 10 teams, revealed to reporters that there may not be an imminent trade involving him, since the Cubs haven't yet approached him regarding waiving his clause.

7/30/24 Rumored Red Sox Target Makes Surprising Pre-Deadline Remark. A rumored Red Sox trade target might not be on the block after all. It was reported last week that Boston was among the teams that had held “talks” with the Chicago Cubs centered around Jameson Taillon. The likelihood of the right-hander leaving the Windy City seemingly increased days later when president of baseball operations Jed Hoyer indicated the Cubs were going to sell before the MLB trade deadline. Well, those available pieces might not include Taillon.
