6/24/24 Guardians' Gabriel Arias Ejected After Arguing With Home Plate Umpire. Tempers flared towards the end of the Cleveland Guardians series opener with the Baltimore Orioles which resulted in one of Cleveland's players getting ejected late in the game after arguing with home plate umpire Jermey Reiggs. Gabriel Arias was up to bat in the bottom of the eighth inning and wasn't a fan of Riggs' strike zone. Orioles pitched Keegan Akin threw a low fastball earlier in the count that just clipped the zone which Riggs called a strike, which is something the ump hadn't been consistent with all game.

4/17/24 Gabriel Arias earns start in center with hot streak at the plate: Guardians takeaways. Cleveland Guardians' Gabriel Arias hits an RBI single in the tenth inning of a baseball game against the Boston Red Sox, Tuesday, April 16, 2024, in Boston. (AP Photo/Steven Senne) AP AP By Joe Noga, cleveland.com BOSTON — Gabriel Arias made his first career start in center field for the Guardians on Wednesday after manager Stephen Vogt said the infielder by trade earned his opportunity at the plate. Boston's starting pitcher, Tanner Houck, presented a tough right-on-right matchup, but Vogt said it was important to keep Arias' bat in the lineup. “Gabby's swinging the bat really well right now and just kind of looking at it, he goes out there (to the outfield) and works every day, and why not?”
