7/04/24 With day off planned, Red Sox slugger tells Alex Cora to put him in lineup on July 4. Tyler O'Neill will hit third and play left field for the Red Sox on the Fourth of July. (AP Photo/Matt Krohn) AP By Chris Cotillo | ccotillo@MassLive.com MIAMI — Red Sox manager Alex Cora was planning on sitting outfielder Tyler O'Neill for Thursday's matinee series finale against the Marlins on the Fourth of July. But the injury-prone O'Neill felt good enough to make a case to start in the outfield for the third straight day as the Red Sox go for a sweep at loanDepot Park. Due to various injuries (and two injured list stints), O'Neill started just 54 of 81 games in the first half, including 11 as the designated hitter. But Cora hopes the productive slugger will be in the lineup more down the

7/02/24 As Red Sox open series in Miami, Tyler O'Neill moved up in lineup. MIAMI — After going 15-10 in June, the Red Sox will open July with a slightly different-looking lineup Tuesday night in Miami. For the first time since April 26, Tyler O'Neill is hitting second for the Red Sox behind leadoff man Jarren Duran as Boston opens a three-game series at loanDepot Park. O'Neill will provide a big right-handed bat early in the order against righty Valente Bellozo, who is making his second career big league start after tossing five shutout innings in his debut against Kansas City on June 26. Connor Wong is catching and hitting fifth for the Sox with Enmanuel Valdez starting at second base and Dom Smith at first. David Hamilton is out of the lineup. The Sox will send Kutter

6/25/24 Tyler O'Neill's Hustle For Red Sox Sparks Energy On 'Unobstructed Views'. Sign In The Boston Red Sox are playing with plenty of energy in June and entered Tuesday's contest against the Toronto Blue Jays as winners of 11 of their last 14 games. Jared Carrabis and Red Sox Hall of Famer Jonathan Papelbon hoped to see that energy on the field while hosting the first installment of NESN's new alternative broadcast “Unobstructed Views.” In the second inning, Red Sox outfielder Tyler O'Neill skied a shallow fly ball into right field. Toronto first baseman Vladimir Guerrero Jr. backpedaled onto the grass and had the ball deflect off the heel of his glove. O'Neill never stopped running and wound up on third base on the error. "THAT'S HOW YOU PLAY HUSTLE BALL, BABY!" Tyler O'Neill

6/24/24 After battling injuries, Tyler O'Neill is healthy and producing for the Red Sox. Related : No speed needed as Tyler O'Neill slugs two of four Red Sox homers in opening win over Blue Jays Alex Cora feels the team has done a good job of managing O'Neill's playing time in a way that keeps him on the field as often as possible. He's had two stays on the injured list, one for inflammation in his right knee (nine games) and the other for concussion symptoms related to an accidental collision in the outfield (six games). In both cases, the Sox were ultra cautious. The team also has mixed in days off when needed. Advertisement “Alex is doing a great job,” O'Neill said. “He's able to give me DH slots here and there and recovery days occasionally when I need them. He's a really good
