5/01/24 Late-inning, 2-out homer by Mets sinks Cubs on Tuesday night in New York; 4-game series continues Wednesday. NEW YORK (AP) — On Monday night, a tiebreaking, two-out homer propelled the Chicago Cubs to a win over the Mets in New York. The Mets did it right back to the Cubs a night later. 5/01/24 Last Mets player to break camp continues to pass the stress test with a smile. When DJ Stewart hit a 388-foot home run to put the Mets ahead of the Cubs 4-1 in the bottom of the sixth inning on Tuesday, he made sure to look over at Mets manager Carlos Mendoza and smile. It's sort of an inside joke the two men share, dating back to the beginning of the season when Stewart, the last player to make the team out of spring training, felt “stressed out” about his future after the Mets signed J.D. Martinez. Mendoza, who described Stewart as having “a cloud on top of him” at the time, would remind him to “smile.”

4/30/24 DJ Stewart's go-ahead 3-run homer lifts Mets over Cubs to even series. Three of the four runs the Mets scored Tuesday night were unearned, but earned or not, they still counted. The Mets evened the series with the Chicago Cubs with a 4-2 win Tuesday night at Citi Field, with DJ Stewart hitting a go-ahead three-run homer off right-hander Adbert Alzolay. Stewart's fourth home run of the season broke a 1-1 tie, giving the fans something to cheer about aside from dollar hot dog night. The only earned run of the night was scored by Francisco Lindor in the bottom of the first, though it was initially ruled as unearned.
