6/26/24 Cardinals' Tommy Edman suffers another injury while rehabbing wrist. Tommy Edman has yet to play for the St. Louis Cardinals in 2024. It seems increasingly likely that will be the case for the entire season after the 29-year-old sprained his ankle on Tuesday while rehabbing a wrist injury, Cardinals manager Oli Marmol told John Denton. The Cardinals had planned for Edman to begin a minor league rehab assignment soon in hopes that he could join the team sometime this summer. What the plan is or when it will come to fruition is now a mystery with the biggest concern figuring out how to get Edman healthy.

6/07/24 Dodgers Linked to Standout Utility Player From Major NL Rival as Trade Target. The Los Angeles Dodgers are reportedly looking to add some depth and versatility at the trade deadline. The help could come from a National League rival. St. Louis Cardinals utility man Tommy Edman could interest the Dodgers if they turn into sellers, according to Jon Heyman of the New York Post. Edman has played every position except first base, pitcher, and catcher but Heyman says the Dodgers would look to have him play shortstop if a deal happens.

6/06/24 Reunion With Gold Glove Award Winner Make Sense For Cardinals At Right Price. The St. Louis Cardinals at one point seemed to have a logjam in the outfield but that doesn't appear to be the case any longer. St. Louis seemingly had a surplus of capable outfielders heading into the 2024 campaign but injuries have depleted the club. Tommy Edman was expected to be the club's everyday center fielder but he hasn't appeared in a game yet this season. Dylan Carlson was expected to see the bulk of the time with Edman out but an injury delayed his start to the season and he has struggled offensively since making his return.

3/20/24 Cardinals beat Nationals 13-4 in spring training game Wednesday night. With Tommy Edman and Lars Nootbaar likely both heading to the injured list to start the season, the Cardinals will need to pick a center fielder and left fielder to join Jordan Walker, who will get the start in right, for the March 28 opener in Los Angeles. On Wednesday night, Carlson got the start in right field while Victor Scott II started in center and Alec Burleson started in left.
