6/25/24 Bryce Harper reacts to Phillies pulling off feat not seen in 95 years. Prior to Monday, the last time a 1-3-5 triple play occurred in Major League Baseball, Babe Ruth was still six years away from playing his final season. With the Tigers down 4-0, Zach McKinstry started it off in the third frame with a single to center off of Phillies starter Aaron Nola. Carson Kelly then followed that up with a single of his own to move McKinstry to third base. Matt Vierling tried to make things happen but hit a liner that went straight to Nola's glove.

6/24/24 Phillies turn rare 1-3-5 triple play against Tigers, 1st since 1929. The Philadelphia Phillies turned a rare 1-3-5 triple play to snuff out a possible Detroit Tigers. Trailing 4-0, the Tigers had a chance to get something going when Zach McKinstry and Carson Kelly hit back-to-back singles to start the third inning, putting runners on the corners. Matt Vierling hit a broken-bat liner back to Aaron Nola, who tossed to Bryce Harper to double Kelly off first. McKinstry had never stopped running, so Harper flipped to Alec Bohm to finish the triple play. Major League Baseball says it's the first 1-3-5 triple play in the majors since the Tigers turned one against the Red Sox on July 11, 1929.

6/07/24 Versatility continues serving North Side grad McKinstry well in Detroit. No matter where he's played or lived, giving back has always been in Zach McKinstry's DNA. Holding the camp at Northside Park, a spot he and his brother both know well from growing up nearby, makes complete sense. “Everywhere I go, I try to leave a little bit of that imprint and give back to that next generation of players and young athletes in the Fort Wayne area, not only baseball but also played football and basketball, soccer,” McKinstry said.

6/05/24 Surging Tigers aim for series sweep vs. Rangers. After moving a game over .500, the Detroit Tigers will look to maintain their momentum when they aim for a sweep of their three-game series against the Texas Rangers on Wednesday in Arlington, Texas. Zach McKinstry and Riley Greene each homered in Tuesday's 3-1 victory as the Tigers won their third straight game. Detroit has won eight of its past 11 to improve to 31-30. Greene has hit safely in six straight games and is 9-for-23 (.391) with two homers over that stretch.
