| 7/04/24 | Demoted Reid Detmers Appears to Be Nearing a Return to Angels. Could Los Angeles Angels starter Reid Detmers be on his way to a major league return? Detmers was sent down to Triple-A Salt Lake back in June after he continued to struggle in the majors. In his most recent major league start against the Seattle Mariners, Detmers gave up five earned runs in 3.2 innings before he was pulled from the game. Reid Detmers is getting closer to a return to the major leagues, while Chase Silseth still has more work to do. “Silsy is still going through the ringer a little bit,” Angels pitching coach Barry Enright said of the two starters currently working at Triple-A. “I think he's a little behind where Det is right now.” Silseth, who missed two months with right elbow inflammation, has allowed 19 earned runs in 18 innings in four starts at Triple-A. The Angels lefty was roughed up again Sunday, continuing a two-year slide that had only gotten worse and never better, giving up five hits and five runs in a 13-6 loss to the Giants and completing just one inning. Angels manager Ron Washington, postgame, said Suarez had struggled to locate his pitches.
