6/15/24 | Nationals teammates get into physical altercation in dugout. It's been a few years since the Washington Nationals were a legitimate threat in Major League Baseball, and frustrations seem to be boiling. In the top of the second in a game against the more-lowly Miami Marlins, Miami catcher Nick Fortes hit a chopper down the third base line that was grabbed by Nick Senzel on a backhand. Senzel made the long throw, but Fortes beat it by a step. Apparently, pitcher MacKenzie Gore felt the same way because he approached Senzel in the dugout after the inning. 5/17/24 | Marlins earn third straight shutout, top Mets 8-0. Nine-hole hitter Nick Fortes, who was batting just .127 entering the game, slugged a three-run home run to lead the Miami Marlins to an 8-0 win over the visiting New York Mets on Friday night. Fortes went 3-for-3 with three runs, three RBIs and one walk. The Marlins, who blanked the Detroit Tigers in their two previous games, extended their scoreless streak to 28 consecutive innings -- three short of the franchise record set in 2004. Jesus Luzardo (1-3) pitched six scoreless innings on Friday to notch his first win since Sept. 17, 2023. Source: https://www.reuters.com/sports/baseball/marlins-ea... |
