7/05/24 Alex Cora gives Red Sox injury updates Friday; Triston Casas 'felt better'. Injured Red Sox first baseman Triston Casas continues to take swings but he still hasn't faced the pitching machine. “He actually took 25 dry swings yesterday,” manager Alex Cora said before Boston's game against the Yankees on Friday. Casas is on the 60-day IL with some fractured cartilage which connects his ribcage to his sternum. The 24-year-old slugger, who finished third for the 2023 AL Rookie of the Year, was batting .244 with a .344 on-base percentage, .513 slugging percentage, .857 OPS, six home runs, three doubles, 10 RBIs, 12 runs, 12 walks and 26 strikeouts in 22 games (90 plate appearances) before landing on the IL.

7/04/24 Red Sox Could Swap Star For Much-Needed Rotation Help At Trade Deadline. The Boston Red Sox have performed so well over the last month that it seems like a foregone conclusion that they will end up buying at the trade deadline unless something crazy happens. Boston has completely turned things around and has been much better than expected. The Red Sox will get even better soon with Triston Casas nearing a return from a tough rib injury. Things are looking up for Boston and the trade deadline should be good too.

7/03/24 Alex Cora gives injury update on Triston Casas, three other injured Red Sox. South Florida native Triston Casas didn't make the trip back home with the Red Sox to Miami this week, but he's continuing to ramp up in advance of potentially rejoining the lineup at some point this month. Casas took approximately 20 dry swings (not making contact with anything) Tuesday at Fenway Park, manager Alex Cora said Wednesday. “He took like 20 swings yesterday, dry swings,” Cora said. Casas previously set various projected return dates for himself, including this week's series in Miami, but the progression has been a bit slower than he hoped when he hit the injured list on April 21.

6/28/24 Red Sox Rumors: Jeff Passan links Boston to star slugger, would create roster issues. If the Boston Red Sox plan to make a playoff push, a boost of power at the plate would go a long way. The Red Sox expect Triston Casas' return to action soon, but they may opt to be cautious with their young slugger due to the nature of his injury. MLB insider Jeff Passan suggested Boston should pursue another slugging first baseman to give its offense an additional lift. Masataka Yoshida has struggled as Boston's everyday DH.

6/26/24 Triston Casas Hoping To Provide 'Power' To Red Sox When He Returns. Triston Casas took the next step toward getting back into the lineup for the Red Sox when he swung the bat on Wednesday for the first time since going on the 60-day injured list in April. “We've been firing on all cylinders,” Casas told reporters before the Red Sox wrapped up their three-game set with the Blue Jays at Fenway Park. “Hopefully, I can come in and provide a little impact power,” Casas said.
