7/01/24 San Francisco Giants Ace Served as 'Hype-Man' for Unsung Hero. The San Francisco Giants are looking for a spark to turn their season around after they have had a disappointing showing to date when there were expectations they would be a playoff team this year following their offseason acquisitions. When they called up Brett Wisely from their Triple-A affiliate, he was one they hoped would be able to make an impact. Having gotten an opportunity in 2023, there was no real indication he might be able to provide that for the Giants after he slashed .175/.231/.267 with seven extra-base hits and eight RBI across 51 games. Acquired by San Francisco in December 2022 via a trade with the Tampa Bay Rays, he was considered their 24th-best prospect coming into that season.

6/30/24 Unlikely No. 1 hitters look to fuel Dodgers, Giants. Two unlikely leadoff hitters look to keep rolling when the Los Angeles Dodgers and host San Francisco Giants complete a three-game series Sunday afternoon. One day after Brett Wisely's walk-off home run ended a 5-3 Giants win, the Dodgers erupted for seven runs in the 11th inning to draw even in the rivalry series. In just his second visit to San Francisco as a member of the Dodgers, Shohei Ohtani homered out of the leadoff spot in Saturday's 14-7 victory.

6/29/24 MLB roundup: Giants, mourning Orlando Cepeda, beat Dodgers. Brett Wisely launched a two-run, walk-off home run with no outs in the ninth inning Friday night, giving the San Francisco Giants a 5-3 victory over the visiting Los Angeles Dodgers in the opener of a three-game series. The game concluded after the Giants announced the death of franchise legend Orlando Cepeda at age 86. A moment in silence in memory of Cepeda was held before the sixth inning. After the Dodgers tied the game on Jason Heyward's sacrifice fly in the top of the ninth off Camilo Doval (3-1), Los Angeles reliever Blake Treinen (2-2) walked Luis Matos before Wisely went deep. Matos and Matt Chapman also homered for the Giants, who got seven innings of two-run ball from Logan Webb. San
