7/7 3:35 AM Brenton Doyle (OF-COL) Doyle homers again, Gomber outduels Lugo in the Rockies' 3-1 victory over the Royals. Brenton Doyle homered for the fourth time in five games, Austin Gomber won for the first time in seven weeks and the Colorado Rockies beat the Kansas City Royals 3-1 on Saturday night. Gomber (2-5) allowed a run on six hits in seven innings and struck out three in his first victory since May 15. He outdueled Royals ace Seth Lugo, with Ryan McMahon having three hits to help Colorado win its third straight. Lugo (11-3) went six innings, allowing five hits and three runs — two earned. He struck out five and walked two. In the second inning, Doyle hit his 11th homer of the season after Brendan Rodgers reached on third baseman Maikel Garcia’s throwing error.

7/7 3:23 AM Shohei Ohtani (DH-LAD) Ohtani, Vargas homer in 8th, Smith homers in 4th straight at-bat, Dodgers top Brewers 5-3. Shohei Ohtani and Miguel Vargas hit solo shots in the eighth inning, Will Smith became the first Los Angeles player to homer in four consecutive at-bats in 10 years, and the Dodgers beat the Milwaukee Brewers 5-3. After Christian Yelich’s went deep to tie the game at 3-all in the top of the inning, the Dodgers responded with two homers. Vargas led off the frame with drive over the wall in left-center off Bryan Hudson (4-1). Two batters later, Ohtani connected on a cutter from Hudson for his 28th of the season. Rhys Hoskins also homered for the Brewers.

Christian Walker’s two-run single with no outs highlighted Arizona's three-run 10th and the Diamondbacks won 7-5 against the San Diego Padres, who scored once in the bottom of the inning and then left the bases loaded. With Corbin Carroll as the automatic runner, the Diamondbacks loaded the bases against Wandy Peralta (2-2) on Geraldo Perdomo’s bunt single down the third base line and pinch-hitter Randal Grichuk’s walk. Walker then singled past diving shortstop Ha-Seong Kim into center field. Jake McCarthy’s grounder brought in Grichuk to make it 7-4.

7/7 2:50 AM Spencer Schwellenbach (P-ATL) Rookie Schwellenbach shines as Braves ride homers from Ozuna, Albies to 5-1 win over Phillies. Rookie Spencer Schwellenbach gave up only one run in six innings, Marcell Ozuna and Ozzie Albies hit two-run homers and the Atlanta Braves beat the Philadelphia Phillies 5-1. Schwellenbach outpitched Ranger Suárez by allowing seven hits with no walks and recording six strikeouts. Suárez allowed five runs in five innings in his third consecutive start in which he has allowed four or more runs. Trea Turner’s third-inning single drove in Johan Rojas for the Phillies’ only run off Schwellenbach. The Braves took a 3-0 lead in the first inning, when Ozuna hit his 23rd homer.

7/7 2:21 AM Mark Canha (OF/DH-DET) Wenceel Pérez slams a two-run homer in the eighth and Tigers rally to beat the Reds 5-3. Pinch-hitter Wenceel Pérez hit a two-run homer and Mark Canha doubled home the go-ahead run in the eighth inning as the Detroit Tigers locked up their first series win in two weeks, rallying to beat the Cincinnati Reds 5-3. The Tigers won the first game Friday night 5-4 and won their first series since taking two of three from the Chicago White Sox June 21-23. The trouble for Cincinnati came in the eighth against Fernando Cruz, who allowed a double to Parker Meadows and then the game-tying blow by Pérez.
